Sixteen old and worn out steel ladders have been replaced with new visible safety ladders from Port-Safety this December. Together with the two test ladders installed in the beginning of this year, the old part of the Port of Nuuk have now been fitted with eighteen new bright yellow Lifeladders to ensure the safety of all port users.

The new safety ladders is modular construct made of reinforced plastic - hence no corrosion. The modular construct makes it easier to replaced damaged sections of the ladder should damage occur. The bright color improves the visibility significantly in the case of an emergency.

The ladders are approx. 8 meters long which ensure the function of the ladder during five meter of tidal change at spring tide.

The contractor helping with the installation was the local diving company PolarDive.
